The WFMC Committee requires that all WFMC members adhere to the 2012 USGA Rules of Golf and the Local Rules of Golf as outlined by the Committee

Whitney Farms Men’s Club Committee Local Rules

Winter Rules:
  A ball lying on the fairway (of the hole being played) through the green may be marked, lifted and cleaned and placed (1 club length), without penalty (no closer to the hole). A ball so lifted and replaced is deemed to be in play once the player addresses the ball. Balls lying in the rough, traps, other hole fairways, hazards, etc… shall be played without movement.

Summer Rules:
  All balls shall be played without movement to the green. Balls may be marked,cleaned and replaced without penalty on the green only.

Cart Paths:
  If a ball is lying on a cart path or a player’s stance is on a cart path, the player may take the nearest relief one-club length, no closer to the hole, without penalty.

Red, Yellow and White Stakes:
  A player may take one club length relief from red or yellow hazard stakes, without penalty, no closer to the hole (if in the hazard, no relief). White stakes are out of bounds and no relief is allowed.

Drainage Ditches:
  If a player’s ball or stance is in a drainage ditch one-club relief may be taken, no closer to the hole, without penalty.

Yardage Markers, Sprinkler Heads and Control Boxes:
  If a players ball or stance is interfered with by a marker, sprinkler or control box, one club length relief is allowed, no closer to the hole, without penalty. If a control box interferes with a player?s line of flight, one club length relief is allowed, no closer to the hole, without penalty. No relief from previously used 150-yard bushes.

Fences:
  If a players ball is in bounds and is interfered with by an out-of-bounds fence, one club length relief is allowed, no closer to the hole, without penalty.

Driving Range:
  Any ball inside the driving range is out-of-bounds. Stroke & distance.

Sand Traps:
  Any stone(s) in your ball or clubs path may be removed, without penalty.

Distance Measuring Device:
  Players are permitted to use devices that measure distance only. Devices that gauge or measure other conditions that might affect a player?s play (e.g. wind or gradient) are prohibited.

Hole # 1:
  Dirt road on right past out-of-bounds markers; a player may take nearest relief one club length relief, no closer to the hole, without penalty.

Hole # 2:
  Water hazard on right, play as lateral water hazard (as marked by red stakes), USGA rules apply. Bunker on right, as marked by blue stake is a waste bunker. Split rail fence; if rail interferes with stance or swing, nearest one club length relief, no closer to the hole, without penalty.

Hole # 3:
  Right side tee shot, to the right of cart path (in bounds), play as it lies. Water on left play as lateral hazard (as marked by red stakes), USGA rules apply. Left side wall on tee shot; nearest relief, one-club length, no closer to the hole, without penalty. Pump house is considered an immovable obstruction inside a hazard, therefore under USGA Rule 24-2.B, there is no relief. Pond behind green defined by red stakes (lateral). Wall behind green is one club length, no closer to the hole, without penalty.

Hole # 4:
  New fence; a player may get one club length relief, no closer, without penalty.

Hole # 5:
  Out of bounds left and right, as marked.

Hole # 6:
  Left side tee shot red stakes to the top of the hill, play as lateral hazard. Out of bounds left and right, as marked. Fence on upper right is one club length relief, no closer to the hole, without penalty. Right of the fence is out of bounds.

Hole # 7:
  Brook on left and behind hole played as lateral water hazard. One club length relief from fence on right, no closer, without penalty.

Hole # 8:
  Fences on left and right; one club length relief (assuming ball in bounds), no closer to the hole, without penalty. No relief from bushes, shrubs or trees near fences. Bunker on left off tee is a ?waste? bunker (player may ground his club, without penalty). Road is out of bounds. Full relief from net and poles (right side) is permitted, no closer to the hole.

Hole # 9:
  Road and parking lot is out of bounds. Brook in front of tee is water hazard.

Hole # 10:
  Left side lateral hazard as marked, no OB. Water hazard on right and brook on left as marked lateral.

Hole # 11:
  Drainage ditch on left; one club length relief, no closer, without penalty. Brook on right, near green is a lateral water hazard.

Hole # 12:
  Brook on left and behind green; play as lateral. Fence behind green, one club length relief, no closer to hole, no penalty.

Hole # 13:
  Drainage ditch on left near dogleg corner; one club length relief, no closer to the hole, without penalty. Right side of fairway marked red.

Hole # 14:
  Drainage ditch on left; one club relief, no closer to hole, without penalty. Pond and marsh on right; play as lateral hazard, as defined by red stakes.

Hole # 15:
  Drainage ditch on left off tee, before pond; one club relief, no closer, without penalty. Shot in water in front of tee; play as water hazard, as marked by yellow stakes. Water over green; played as lateral hazard (red stakes).

Hole # 16:
  Brook and pond on right side; play as lateral hazard. Fence on right; one club length relief, no closer to hole, without penalty (assuming not in hazard).

Hole # 17:
  Past dogleg on right; lateral hazard as defined by red stakes. Driving range fence and poles; one club length relief, no closer to the hole, without penalty (in bounds).

Hole # 18:
  Shot in pond in front of tee; play as water hazard, as marked by yellow stakes. Brook on right over water hazard; play as water hazard, as marked by red stakes. Driving range fence and poles; one club length relief, no closer to the hole, without penalty (in bounds). Driveway behind green, driving range; out of bounds.

 


These rules are in effect April 17th, 2012. This revised local rules publication supersedes all previous local rules.

 
In general, the WFMC shall play Winter Rules from the start of the golf season until just before Memorial Day. From Memorial Day to Labor Day Summer Rules shall be used. After Labor Day, Winter Rules shall be used for the remainder of the season. However, the Committee reserves the right to change these general rules based on course and weather conditions during the year. Rules for all tournaments shall be posted during the sign up of a given tournament. Any questions should be directed to the tournament chair of the event, or to any WFMC officer.
